A skilled local workforce is what lets our coastal economy take up new opportunities, nowhere more so than in smaller and remotely-located communities. We focus our investments on the accelerators, facilities, and equipment that help organizations deliver training, skills development, and certification close to home, preparing residents for in-demand jobs and for work in new and emerging sectors.
We welcome proposals for the infrastructure and equipment that let organizations establish new training and upskilling programs, equipping residents to meet the demands of today’s job market or to move into emerging sectors. We also encourage proposals for programs that support developing companies in emerging and low-carbon sectors with mentorship, investment, and the other supports that help them grow into stable, self-sufficient businesses.
Through investments in local training capacity and the organizations that deliver it, we help build a workforce prepared for long-term opportunity: one that opens good jobs to more residents, prepares people for the low-carbon and emerging sectors ahead, advances Indigenous-led and community training close to home, and keeps skills and opportunity in the communities that build them.
